Adolescent Mental Health

  /    /  Adolescent Mental Health

For the best part of a decade I have been working in a therapeutic capacity with young people aged 11-20. This experience has challenged, humbled and amazed me in equal measure. I have worked with young people who were brave enough to share their lives, struggles and mental health with me. It was a pleasure and privilege to be allowed access into their worlds.

Politicians and the media both frequently comment upon an “adolescent mental health crisis”. In my experience, it can be seen that support services have been reduced and there is an increasing demand from young people in distress. I believe this increasing demand is due to changing attitudes towards mental health and help seeking, young people facing increasing pressures and generation specific issues (cyberbullying, internet safety to name a few).

I have seen my role in various services and private practice as enabling young people to build resilience, develop healthy coping mechanisms and to support them in moving forward.

If you are a parent/guardian or young person (13+) who would like to discuss mental health, please contact me for an initial consultation of where to access support or to begin therapy with myself.

If you are a therapist who would like supervision regarding adolescent mental health please contact me for supervision fees.

Schools and organisations who would like to discuss adolescent mental health training or specific training for your organisation feel free to contact me to discuss.

Dr Farrah Collins is on leave from September 2022 - Summer 2023 and will not be seeing clients during this time. If you are struggling and are in need of urgent assistance please contact your GP, out of hours service or go to A and E. For more mental health support visit Mind.
